From component manufacturing to system solutions – your partner for defence projects.
The WELP Group is your reliable partner for defence components, protection systems and vehicle solutions. With over 50 years of experience, locations across Europe and a high degree of vertical integration, we deliver projects from development through to series production. Our focus is on the high-precision manufacture of metal components, particularly for applications in the military and government sectors – in compliance with the strictest standards and quality requirements.
Metal Fabrication for Defence & Security
In the defence and security sector, the highest precision, durability and certified processes are crucial. The WELP Group offers comprehensive metal fabrication expertise for safety-critical applications – from individual components to complex assemblies.
A key component is our certified welding technology in accordance with DIN 2303 Q3 for steel and aluminium. In combination with modern welding processes and qualified specialist staff, we manufacture heavy-duty structures and components for military applications.
Our range of services is complemented by the hot forming of steel and aluminium, which enables the production of robust and geometrically complex components. This process offers decisive advantages in terms of strength and material properties, particularly for protective components and load-bearing structures.
With our high-performance milling technology (3- to 5-axis machining), we produce precise components even with complex geometries and tight tolerances. This enables us to guarantee consistent manufacturing of the highest standard – tailored to the requirements of the defence and security sector.
Adhesive technology for military applications
Adhesive technology plays a crucial role in modern defence technology. It enables the secure and permanent bonding of a wide variety of materials such as metal, plastics and composites – whilst optimising weight and ensuring high structural strength.
The WELP Group relies on bonding processes in accordance with military standards, in particular TL A-0023. This enables us to meet the highest requirements for quality, process reliability and traceability – essential for safety-critical applications in the defence sector.
Our bonding technology is used in applications including protection systems, vehicle structures and assemblies. It complements traditional joining methods such as welding and enables innovative design solutions, particularly for hybrid materials and complex geometries.
Through precise process control, qualified specialist staff and comprehensive quality controls, we ensure that every bond reliably withstands the extreme stresses encountered in service.
Protective cabins for vehicles
The WELP Group develops and manufactures high-security vehicle cabins for military and law enforcement applications – designed for use in extreme conditions. Our protective cabins comply with international standards such as STANAG and VPAM and offer reliable protection against ballistic threats, explosions and external influences.
We support the entire process, from concept development and structural design through to series production. In doing so, we integrate modern materials and proven manufacturing technologies such as welding, bonding and mechanical machining to ensure an optimal combination of protection, weight and functionality.
Whether a bespoke design or a series solution – our cabins are individually tailored to the specific vehicle and operational scenario, offering maximum safety whilst maintaining high mobility.
Hot forming of armour steel
The hot forming of armour steel is a key process for manufacturing high-strength protective components with complex shapes. Through targeted heating and subsequent forming, components with optimal mechanical properties and high resistance to ballistic and mechanical stresses can be produced.
The WELP Group processes armour steel in various thicknesses – from thin-walled sheets (approx. 1.0–3.0 mm) to thick sheets in the range of approx. 4.0–20.0 mm. This enables both lightweight structures and heavy-duty protective components to be manufactured efficiently.
The combination of hot forming, targeted heat treatment and subsequent mechanical machining ensures consistently high component quality and reproducible results – even for complex geometries and safety-critical applications in the defence sector.
Assembly of components and sub-assemblies
The WELP Group undertakes the precise assembly of components and complex sub-assemblies for defence and security applications. In doing so, we integrate a wide variety of components into ready-to-install systems – from individual protective components right through to complete modules.
Our range of services includes, amongst other things, the assembly of armoured vehicle components, vehicle structures and system elements for modern applications such as drone and counter-UAS platforms. By combining various manufacturing and joining technologies – such as welding, bonding and mechanical joining techniques – we ensure high stability and operational reliability.
Thanks to structured processes, qualified specialist staff and comprehensive quality controls, we ensure that all assemblies precisely meet the requirements for military use and can be reliably integrated.
Armoured fuel tanks
The WELP Group develops and manufactures protected fuel tanks for military and safety-critical applications. Our solutions feature integrated self-sealing technologies that prevent fuel leakage in the event of damage, thereby significantly reducing the risk of fires and explosions.
The tanks are designed and tested to meet the highest safety standards, ensuring reliable performance even under extreme operating conditions. Customised adaptations to vehicle platforms and specific operational scenarios enable optimal integration into modern protection systems.
Military simulators
The WELP Group develops and manufactures high-quality military simulators for realistic training and education scenarios. Our solutions make it possible to simulate operational situations under safe conditions, thereby ensuring that personnel training is both efficient and practical.
In doing so, we combine our expertise in vehicle and component manufacturing with modern system integration. From the mechanical structure and interior fittings right through to the integration of technical systems, we create robust and durable simulators that are precisely tailored to the respective requirements.
Thanks to our high level of vertical integration and experience in the defence sector, we offer tailor-made solutions – from individual simulation modules to complete training systems.
