Dressel + Höfner Automotive enhances process reliability with innovative vented ejectors
Neustadt bei Coburg, January 2026 – Dressel + Höfner Automotive, a company of the WELP Group and a specialist in precise system and turnkey solutions for plastic injection molding, has taken a significant step toward increasing process reliability in series production. By consistently integrating vented ejector pins into its injection molds, the company has been able to substantially improve the reliability and stability of its manufacturing processes.
One of the key challenges in injection molding is the effective evacuation of air and gases from the cavity – a prerequisite for stable and reproducible processes. Conventional venting systems often reach their limits when dealing with complex and finely structured components, such as visible parts or thin-walled components. Insufficient venting can result in increased clamping forces, surface defects, or shortened maintenance intervals. This is precisely where Dressel + Höfner’s new solution comes into play: The use of standardized ejectors with integrated venting geometry allows air to escape more quickly and in a targeted manner, significantly stabilizing the molding process.
A major breakthrough was achieved through close cooperation with standard components specialist KNARR. Together, the partners succeeded in bringing a vented ejector variant with a diameter of just 1 millimeter to series maturity – whereas comparable solutions had previously only been available from diameters of 2 millimeters and above. Despite the finely dimensioned venting channels, the ejector shaft remains precisely guided, ensuring dimensional accuracy and reliable guidance within the mold.
“The process has become significantly more robust with the new ejectors, and the process window for users in injection molding has noticeably expanded,” explains Sven Hübner, Head of Toolmaking at Dressel + Höfner Automotive. Thanks to the vented pins, trapped air is discharged more efficiently, making the production process more stable, reproducible, and less prone to defects.
Tangible benefits in daily production
One of the key advantages of the vented ejectors is the significantly extended maintenance intervals of the molds. Where conventional systems showed initial limitations after only a few thousand cycles, the new solution has increased service intervals many times over. This not only improves cost efficiency but also minimizes downtime and ensures consistently high product quality over long production runs – a decisive factor, especially in the automotive industry, where zero-defect quality and on-time delivery are top priorities.
The new vented ejectors are defined as a standard component in the mold bill of materials and are consistently used both in new developments and in the revision of existing molds. This ensures that the benefits of this technology remain permanently embedded in Dressel + Höfner’s product portfolio.
As an experienced partner for OEM-quality solutions, Dressel + Höfner Automotive offers comprehensive support to its customers – from product development and tool and mold making to series production and assembly – always with a clear focus on maximum process reliability, efficiency, and dependability.
