The "Security Forum", which takes place every two years, was aimed at representatives from the security and defense industry, the armed forces, politics, business, the police, federal police, special units, BKA, OEMs and suppliers and was open to trade visitors.
Schrobenhausen, May 25, 2023 - With 45 exhibitors and 370 visitors, the "Security Forum 2023" achieved a record participation. For the third time, the long-awaited industry meeting with the participation of high-ranking representatives from Bavarian state politics - including the Bavarian State Minister of the Interior, for Sport and Integration, Joachim Herrmann, and the State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, Roland Weigert - took place at the joint location by MBDA Germany and TDW in Schrobenhausen. Roland Weigert, the former economics officer and press spokesman for the district of Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, recalled the immense importance of the MBDA location Schrobenhausen for Germany and its European allies.
For a whole day, the high-ranking event was oriented towards the constantly increasing need for protection solutions for emergency services - from personal protection to security vehicles and armored SUVs. The exhibiting partners and companies, all of them German medium-sized companies, addressed a large group of users with their product solutions - from international aid organizations to security authorities and the military. As a result of rapidly developing dangers and threats, these are making ever greater demands on the protection of their emergency services - whether in crisis areas or in internal security scenarios.
This year's event has succeeded in bringing together leading protagonists from the security and defense industry - all with a strong focus on networking and sharing experiences, ideas and concepts. After a break due to corona, the industry meeting of the WELP Group and its partners continued a tradition that has established itself in recent years as a unique forum for the entire security and defense industry and will continue to develop in the future. The event was originally scheduled for the end of 2021
planned. But it had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic.
A measurable success for everyone
For the one-day lecture panel, the organizers had developed a diverse portfolio of specialist lectures and product presentations of protection solutions. This offered a comprehensive overview of the latest developments on the subject of "Ballistics & Explosives" - including highly dynamic ballistics and explosives demonstrations on protective helmets, protective vests and protective glass.
Minister of State Joachim Herrmann (CSU) remarked in his welcoming speech that the focus on the diverse threats to internal security has not diminished and that it is now important to counter them with well-trained and well-equipped security forces.
Security situation always in focus
Bavaria's Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann, emphasized that an efficient security and defense industry is considered indispensable given the wide range of threats to internal security. “The developers and manufacturers of high-performance security and defense technology are indispensable for our state's ability to act in terms of security policy.”
Technologically significant
Numerous leading companies in the security and defense industry came together in Schrobenhausen. One thing caught the eye of the exhibiting companies: protection is high on the priority list. However, this requires a lot of money for new developments, especially when it comes to ballistic protection.
The car manufacturer Audi from Ingolstadt presented its highly protected limousine - A8L Security - to the general public. "The tank for the road" meets the requirements of bullet resistance class VR7 according to the BRV (Bullet Resistant Vehicles) and ERV (Explosion Resistant Vehicles) guidelines. The bullet resistance class VR9 means that the sheet metal and glazing of the passenger compartment must withstand shelling with NATO hard-core ammunition.
The qualification was carried out by the bombardment office. Developed for VIPs, the special protection equipment of the 5.32 m long limousine offers sufficient protection against attacks with automatic weapons, hand grenades and explosive devices. This requires highly resistant materials (armoured steel, aluminium, aramid fabric, special glass) as well as a number of other protective mechanisms such as an emergency exit system, a fire extinguishing system, an emergency fresh air system with oxygen and an armored communication box in the luggage compartment.
The special glass of the doors, door windows and front and rear windows is multi-layered special glass with a shatterproof polycarbonate layer on the inside.
